Ajax welcome Vitesse to the Amsterdam Arena for the fifth round of the Eridivisie on Sunday September 11. The two sides are fourth and fifth in the Dutch, both on seven points but Ajax have a superior, one goal difference.
Ajax crashed out of the Champions League in the playoff round at the hands of Russian side Rostov, to become one pf the big sides to fall to little known opposition. They have however picked themselves up with convincing performances in the league, and were 3-0 winners over Utrecht in the last match before the international break.
Peter Bosz has combined the midfield duo of Davy Klaassen and Hakim Ziyech to provide flow for Bertrand Traore, who has in turn paid off with the supply with inspiring conversions. Vitesse signed off for the break with a 1-1 draw against Utrecht, but had two opening wins to prevent a massive falling off. Most notable among them is their continually improving defence, which is third-lowest in number of goals conceded this term (4).
