Arsenal and Burnley will play the second match of the Premier League season on Saturday, 17th August at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal and Burnley meet this weekend at the Emirates Stadium for the second match of the Premier League season. Arsenal will be out to prove that they are in good form while Burnley will be looking to continue the string of good results that they have produced in recent weeks.
Arsenal started the season by defeating Newcastle United 0 – 1. This came after some mixed results in preseason games; they lost to Barcelona, Olympique Lyonnais and Real Madrid, but defeated Angers on penalties. Burnley began the season with an emphatic 3 – 0 win over Southampton at home, and this came after victories over Parma and Nice over the last few weeks.
The teams have of course played many times in recent years in the Premier League and other competitions. Most recently, they played in May this year and Arsenal won the game 1 – 3. In fact, Arsenal have won their last 10 meetings with Burnley dating all the way back to March 2010. The game before that was a draw and the only time Burnley has defeated Arsenal recently was in December 2008. As such, this is set to be a real test for the visitors.
