Besiktas are a roll after just eliminated Partizan in the play-offs. Coach Senol Gunes is expected to make changes by bringing in a key attacker and former Manchester city player Alvaro Negrodo to push the Norwegian defence.
On the other hand, Sarpborgs 08 beat Maccabi Tel Aviv to qualify but face an uphill task in this week’s Istanbul match against Besuiktas. Although still early in the season, Besiktas is currently ranked 4th and will look to make a 1 or 2 position finish in the 1st match of the Europa league group. Other teams in the group include Malmo, Genk and Sarpsborg 08. Sarpsborg are obviously the clear outsiders in the competition having only competed once before and are currently on a losing streak at home. This might be a one-sided game but you can be sure that Sarpsborg 08 will aim for a good enough result to jump start a few wins back home.
On this one, my money is on Besiktas
