Chelsea and Liverpool will play the sixth match of the Premier League season on Sunday, 22nd September at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea and Liverpool meet this weekend at Stamford Bridge for the sixth match of the Premier League season. Chelsea are currently sixth in the league with 8 points having won 2 games, drawn 2, and lost 1. Liverpool are top of the league with 15 points having won all five games so far. Because of this, there is a lot of pressure on both teams.
Last week Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 – 5 and before that drew with Sheffield United 2 – 2. They have also recently defeated Norwich City and drawn with Leicester City. Since the start of the season Liverpool have defeated Norwich City, Southampton, Arsenal, Burnley and Newcastle United. Chelsea are probably the toughest team they have faced so far, but they will be buoyed by the fact that they recently defeated Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup.
They teams have played numerous times in the league and other competitions in recent years. Before the Super Cup they played in the Premier League in April and Liverpool won 2 – 0. Before that they drew 1 – 1 in September 2018 and in the same month Chelsea defeated Liverpool 1 – 2 in the League Cup.
