Eibar’s 24th tie of this season’s La Liga will be a home tie against Barcelona, who they welcome to the Ipurua Municipal Stadium on Saturday. José Luis Mendilibar’s side are underdogs despite playing at home, but they will be hoping to put up a better fight than that which saw them lose 6-1 in the first leg. The uphill task is made even tougher by the head to head statistics- they have lost all seven meetings of this tie since 2014.
Besides that performance against Barca, Eibar have had a pretty decent season and currently sit seventh with 35 points ahead of this match. They come into the match on the back of a 1-0 away win at Leganes last week. Central defender Ivan Ramis scored their last minute winner in that match and will again be instrumental as they try to stop the league leaders.
Barca are seven points clear at the top. They were held to a goalless draw by Getafe last week and will want a good result to psyche themselves ahead of a Champions’ League trip to Chelsea the following Tuesday. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are the senior figures in their attack and will both get a start, although both are likely to play the full 90 minutes.
