Everton and Watford will play the second match of the Premier League season on Saturday, 17th August at Goodison Park.
Everton and Watford meet this weekend at Goodison Park for the second match of the Premier League season. Both teams have had stuttering starts to the season and they will want to try to get things back on track with a win in their second outing.
Everton began the season with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace and this came after goalless draws against Werder Bremen and Wigan Athletic. Watford lost their opening game 0 – 3 to Brighton & Hove Albion, a disappointing result after they had defeated Real Sociedad, Queens Park Rangers and Bayer Leverkusen in preseason friendly games.
These teams have played each other a number of times in recent years in the Premier League. They played in February this year and Watford won the game 1 – 0. Before that they played in December 2018 and the game ended in a 2 – 2 draw. Since 2006, the teams have played 10 times. Watford has won 3 of the games, Everton has won 4 and 3 games have ended in draws. The teams look to be very balanced and as such, this game could turn out to be quite a battle.
