PSG have showed an almost unprecedented level of desperation in their bid to land Neymar this summer, starting with the decision to trigger the seemingly outrageous 222 million Euros release clause. Above that, the Parc-des- Princes outfit has offered to double the Brazilian’s salary, raising questions of what exact worth they expect to gain from the deal.
The wooing does not end there still, as Le Parisien report Neymar has also been allowed to have a say on how he would like the squad to be shaped around him. That is the reason Lucas Moura has not been released this summer, and also partly why they pursued Alexis Sanchez.
PSG however appear to have been turned off by Neymar’s camp’s demands for even more leeway, and are now abandoning the chase. Despitte bringing in Neymar’s preferred Dani Alves, the club will no longer pursue Phillipe Coutinho in the short term. The side is looking to bring in an influencial figure after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season, and consequently failing to win the domestic title for the first time in four years.
