This Group B match will be played in the Kazan Arena on Wednesday 20th June.
Iran has not lost in their recent competitive matches making them a hard team to beat even in a tough group. They return to the world cup for the 4th time having never gone past the first round. They don’t score often managing just 10 goals in 10 games during their qualifying journey but they are also well organized defensively conceding only two. If they managed to beat Morocco, expect them to make it very hard for Spain too.
Spain are the 2010 winners and are among title favourites in this tournament. Under Manager Julen Lopetegui, they had an impressive qualifying run with 9 wins out of the 10 matches played. They have an intact team generally with good strikers, midfielders and a good defence. They scored 36 goals and conceded only 3 in their 10 qualifying matches. Andreas Iniesta is arguably the best player in Spain but Real Madrid’s Isco will be the man to watch in this game and tournament.
