Newcastle United and Liverpool meet at St. James’ Park on Saturday, 4th May and it will be a very tough test for the hosts.
Newcastle United are hosting Liverpool at St. James’ Park this weekend and it is likely to be a very tough test for the hosts. Liverpool are keeping the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the league and have been in excellent form recently. They will be absolutely determined to claim the full three points.
Newcastle United have produced some good results in recent weeks. They drew with Brighton last weekend and before that defeated Southampton and Leicester City. However, Liverpool have been in excellent form and have won all of their Premier League games in recent weeks, most recently defeating Huddersfield Town 5 – 0. While they had a tough week in the Champions League, this match will be far less pressurised.
The teams last played in December last year and Liverpool won the game 4 – 0. Before that they played in March 2018 and Liverpool won 2 – 0. Newcastle held Liverpool to a draw in their two prior meetings and defeated Liverpool 2 – 0 in December 2015. However, it seems unlikely that they will manage to reproduce that result on this occasion.
