With the expected showdown between French champions Paris Saint Germain and English giants Manchester City on April 6th, we take a look at how things are likely to unfold.
Paris SG vs Man. City is going to be one of the most exciting games at this stage. City qualified for the quarter finals for the first time ever. However, drawing PSG in the process might not be one of the things that they wished for. They have enjoyed a run of mixed fortunes back in England. They beat Liverpool to win the League Cup only to lose to them a few days later in the Premier league. Their main concern is going to be the injury scare on their captain and key defender, Vincent Kompany.
Lethal striker Sergio Kun Aguero is in blistering for City and this could be man they bank on to see off PSG. However, unlike City, the French champions have little pressure on their shoulders. As City compete to win the domestic league, PSG have already won Ligue 1 and so, they have the luxury to rest some of their key players ahead of the quarter final clash.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edison Cavani, Angel Di Maria and a host of starts at the Paris club have shown an amazing run of form this season winning the domestic league with eight games to spare. This probably is going to be a source of motivation and inspiration for them to continue the same performance against Man. City in the Champions League.
PSG vs Man. City is not just going to be an ordinary UEFA Champions League quarter final match. It will also be a showdown between Laurent Blanc and Manuel Pellegrini, two sharply contrasting football managers. Blanc wants to continue writing history at PSG while Pellegrini will be leaving Manchester City in the summer and wants end his tenure on a high note.
