Peru vs Brazil: A Real Test for Peru

Peru and Brazil will play in the group stage of the Copa America on Saturday, 22nd June at the Arena Corinthians. 

Peru and Brazil will face each other on Saturday in their next group stage game of the Copa America. Peru drew their first game of the tournament while Brazil won theirs. Both teams are high up in the FIFA world rankings. Peru is twenty-first, just a few points below Iran, while Brazil are currently ranked third in the world, just below Belgium and France.

Peru have had some mixed results over the past few months. They defeated Paraguay 1 – 0 and Costa Rica 1 – 0 a few months later. However, they lost 0 – 2 to El Salvador and 0 – 3 to Colombia, before drawing with Venezuela. Brazil have been in fantastic form, they drew with Panama in March and since then have won all their matches, against the Czech Republic, Qatar, Honduras and Bolivia.

The teams last played in November 2016 and Brazil won the game 0 – 2. Before that they played in June 2016 and Peru won 1 – 0. However, this was their first victory over Brazil since 1985, in between they lost 10 games and drew six.
