Portland Timbers and Los Angeles FC will play the next match of the MLS season on Sunday, 2nd June at Providence Park.
Portland Timbers and Los Angeles FC meet this weekend at Providence Park for the next match of the MLS season. The Portland Timbers have been struggling a bit this season; they are tenth in the league and need points to try to close the gap. Los Angeles FC are in a completely different situation, they are comfortably at the top of the Western Conference with an eight-point lead over Seattle Sounders.
While Portland have only won four games this season, all four of those wins have come in recent weeks, against Philadelphia Union, Columbus Crew, Toronto and Real Salt Lake. They have also recently lost to Vancouver Whitecaps and drawn with Houston Dynamo. Los Angeles FC have lost just one game this season (won 10, drawn 4) but in recent weeks, they have drawn a number of times, against Dallas, Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders.
The teams have played four times in the past. They played in March this year and Los Angeles FC won 4 – 1. They played three times last year, Portland Timbers won the first game 2 – 1, the second ended in a goalless draw and LA FC won the third 3 – 2.
