Sevilla have thrived the first quarter of the league to occupy an enviable second position, but face yet another test when they welcome defending champions Barcelona to the Ramon Sanchez Stadium on Sunday November 6.
Jorge Sampaoli has kicked off well since replacing Unai Emery in charge of the defending Europa champions, and the test against Barca is one he should relish. Samir Nasri will again be paired with Vitolo to try and neutralise the heat by Barca in midfield.
Barcelona are themselves dogged by injuries to their starting eleven (which is also aging). Gerrard Pique remains out for this tie, as does Jeremy Mathieu and Andres Iniesta. Javier Mascherano will drop to partner Samuel Umtiti in central defence; quite a shaky pair. The tactic here will then be to attack more and starve opponents of the ball, while pressing and trying to win up high. Quite desperate for Barcelona you might say; this could swing either way.
