South Africa and Namibia will play in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations on Friday, 28th June at the Al Salam Stadium.
South Africa and Namibia will face each other on Friday in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations. Namibia lost their first match of the tournament 1 – 0 to Morocco while South Africa are coming to the tournament having recently won the Cosafa Cup. South Africa are currently ranked seventy-second in the world while Namibia are one-hundred-and-thirteenth.
South Africa defeated Malawi on penalties in the final of the Cosafa Cup, before that they defeated Uganda on penalties. They lost on penalties to Botswana but before that defeated Libya. Namibia are coming to the tournament after a set of mixed results. They lost 4 – 1 to Zambia, and 1 – 2 to Malawi. However, they defeated Mozambique 1 – 2 and the Seychelles 3 – 0.
The teams have played each other three times since 2006. In 2013 South Africa won 2 – 1, in 2010 they drew 1 – 1 and in 2006 South Africa won 0 – 1. Namibia is sure to give this game their all, but a confident South Africa will represent a real challenge.
