South Africa vs Senegal: Lions keen to earn fair win in replay

13:46, 07 Nov 2017

South Africa welcome Senegal to the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polkwane City, Limpopo this Friday for a replay of their CAF world cup qualifier. The match is being replayed under fIFA orders after referee Joseph Lamptey was found guilty of manipulating their previous meeting.

Bafana Bafana had won the nullified fixture 2-1 and went ahead to win 1-0 in a September friendly between the sides. They however remain bottom of the group with just four points from four fixtures played. They have been on fire lately, beating Burkina Faso 3-1 in their last match in October. Manager Ephraim Mashaba will hope for the same luck against Senegal as Thulani Hlatshwayo captains the side in their penultimate World Cup qualifier.

Senegal will look to earn a just three points in this second chance as they prepare for the replay in Dakar four days later. They have received a huge boost in the form of Sadio Mane’s recovery.
