Southampton will host Chelsea at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday 7th October.
Southampton is having one of its poorest forms so far. They only have one win from six matches played placing them at the 14th position on the table. Their last EPL home match was against Brighton and it ended 2-2. They are coming from a 3-0 loss to Liverpool and will be looking at utilizing Chelsea’s recent slip. Danny Ings has been the man doing most of the scoring for Southampton and will be the man to watch in this match. However, the most they can do here is force a draw.
Chelsea is 3rd on the table two points behind league leaders Liverpool. They are still unbeaten but their barren draw against West Ham affected their perfect start. Chelsea has a history of losing momentum especially when they play a mid-week match and their Europa League match against Videoton on 4th October might be a blessing in disguise for Southampton. They have the bench power to win this match.
