Southampton and Liverpool meet at St. Mary’s Stadium on Friday, 5th April in a game that could be closer than expected.
Southampton are hosting Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium this weekend and Liverpool cannot afford to be complacent. After overcoming Spurs last weekend, Liverpool are still just one point shy of Manchester City, and they can’t afford to drop any points. However, after falling extremely close to the relegation zone, Southampton have recently turned things around and they are looking threatening.
Southampton defeated Brighton last weekend and Tottenham Hotspur in the game before. They also came close to defeating Manchester United at the beginning of March, losing 3 – 2 after an 88th-minute goal from Lukaku. Liverpool have won their last four matches and will be feeling confident ahead of this game after last week’s success against Spurs.
Liverpool won their last game 3 – 0 and before that defeated Southampton at home 0 – 2. Southampton last defeated Liverpool in January 2017 in the League Cup and haven’t defeated them in the Premier League since March 2016. Despite this, every game is now important for the Reds and they will need to stay alert.
