Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United will play the third match of the Premier League season on Sunday, 25th August at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United meet this weekend at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the third match of the Premier League season. Spurs caused the first upset of the season last week, and they will be looking forward to what should be a more relaxed game in front of their home crowd.
Spurs held Manchester City to a 2 – 2 draw at the Etihad Stadium last weekend and this came after they defeated Aston Villa 3 – 1 in their first game. In general, the team has looked very impressive recently, and they certainly seem a team to keep an eye on. Newcastle United has had a poor start to the season losing both games, first to Arsenal and then to Norwich City. They desperately need some point and will be feeling the pressure.
The teams have of course played each other many times over the years in various leagues. Spurs have won their last four games, most recently in February this year when they won 1 – 0. Newcastle United last defeated Spurs back in 2016 when they won 5 – 1. Since 2005, Spurs have won 14 games, Newcastle have won 12, and 2 games ended in draws.
